How to prepare for Profhilo® treatment?
Avoid drinking alcohol and taking anti-inflammatories or aspirin for at least 24 hours before treatment
Does treatment hurt?
Unlike procedures such as surgical face lifts or implants, Profhilo® requires no cuts, incisions or stitches to be made, although the procedure may involve some light pain or discomfort. The treatment usually takes between 20 and 30 minutes and clients describe feeling a tiny scratch as the needle goes in
Will I have lumps where the Profhilo® has been injected and if so, how long will they be there for?
With any injectable treatments, there is always a chance of swelling. Following Profhilo® there is a risk that some localized lumps can arise from each injection point but usually this will subsite between 4-24 hours after the treatment. Not everyone experiences swelling but if you are worried, do not hesitate to give us a call
Will I need to rest after treatments?
Rest time is very minimal, however after the five injections are inserted there will be small, visible entry holes which will disappear completely the next day. So depending on whether you want people to notice you’ve had the treatment, you may want to let them disappear first before going back to your daily routines.
After the treatment, we recommend you avoid physical strain and sports activities for 24 hrs. Please also avoid having further cosmetic procedures for 48 hrs. Also avoid saunas, swimming and steamy bath for the first 2 days. If any bruising or prolonged swelling occurs, it is best to stay out of the sun
How quickly will I notice results?
You will start to see a more hydrated appearance after treatment and an overall improvement in the skin’s tone, texture and elasticity after eight weeks
How long do results last?
The results from Profhilo® can last up to six months but this varies depending on the individual and their lifestyle choices. Looking after your skin by protecting it from the sun, following a good skincare regime, drinking lots of water and avoiding smoking and alcohol, may help to maintain your results for longer
Will people be able to tell I’ve had ‘work done’?
Usually people won’t notice you’ve had any treatments. Clients describe that Profhilo® has naturally ‘lifted’ their skin which may be noticeable at first but overall they say how much they were complemented on how ‘fresh’ they looked. It all depends on how observant your friends are!
Is the treatment safe?
Profhilo® was launched in February 2015 in Italy. It’s been used worldwide ever since. Over 150,000 patients have been treated so far with no adverse reactions reported. From a safety perspective, Profhilo® is highly biocompatible because it is made from ultra-pure, ultra-natural Hyaluronic Acid and is stabilized without the addition of chemical cross-linking agents. This reduces the risk of adverse reactions. The product has also won numerous awards so we can confirm it is a reputable and safe treatment
What are the side effects?
Side effects from Profhilo® are rare. Very rarely, inflammatory reactions occur and can arise days and weeks after treatment but these usually subside over time without the need for further treatment.
It is very uncommon to have any serious side effects, however if you do experience any of the following, please call us on 0800 773 4160 or 07919 438727. If it is out of hours, please call your GP or go to the A&E Department in your local hospital
Persistent swelling that gets worse each day
Increased pain that doesn’t go away
Skin feeling hot and getting redder with time
The skin near the treatment area looking pale/white or greyish in colour on the day or day after the treatment and increasing pain in this area
General feeling of unwellness in the days following treatment
COVID
SARS-COV-2 (Covid-19 infection), as well as Covid vaccinations are both highly challenging to our immune system by over stimulating its response. Therefore both (Covid-19 infection, as well as the vaccine) can lead to complications after injection. Nodules and local reactions can occur within weeks, months, or even years after the treatment when our immune system is challenged
So far generally there is a low incidence of such cases reported. Your safety is paramount and therefore we advise the following:
Do not have Dermal Filler, Profhilo® or Botox injections 4 weeks before your planned vaccination or 4 weeks after
If you have been infected with Covid-19, do not have Dermal filler, Profhilo® or Botox injections for the first 4 weeks of being symptom free
